Know children, books and culture
Latin American music, a Brazilian jazz band, storytelling and puppetry, Spanish and English storytimes, crafts, and even a piñata are all part of Dakota County Library’s annual celebration of El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros (Children’s Day/Book Day).
In April, the Heritage Library in Lakeville and the Wentworth Library in West St. Paul will host free events, including a book giveaway and fun activities for families.
Heritage Library: Saturday, April 16, 1 to 3 p.m., 20085 Heritage Drive in Lakeville, 952-891-0360. Enjoy the storytelling and puppetry of Nicolas Carter. Spanish and English storytime, crafts, and the breaking of a piñata will all be part of the fun. Community partners from Dakota County Public Health, District 194 Community Education, Friends of the Dakota County Heritage Library and Lakeville Early Childhood Family Education will be on hand to answer questions.
Wentworth Library: Saturday, April 30, 1 to 4 p.m., 199 E. Wentworth Ave. in West St. Paul, 651-554-6800. Join musicians Ticket to Brazil and Nicolas Carter for this annual festival, which will also include a book give away for children, Rosie the Clown, craft activities and refreshments. Many community agencies, including the YMCA, South Metro Fire Department and Neighbors will have informational displays.
Events are free and open to all ages. For more information, call 651-450-2943 or visit the Dakota County Library website.
