The Communications unit supports County Commissioners and staff in providing information to the citizens of Dakota County. This includes:
- Serving as primary contact to the media with authority to speak on behalf of the County
- Responding to requests for public information and preparing responses to inquiries
- Preparing a strategic, long-range County communications plan
- Directing production and distribution of public information materials and methods
- Marketing Dakota County; overseeing content provided on the Dakota County website; developing strategies for increasing public awareness of County services, activities, and accomplishments
- Implementing recommendations from the 2006 Communicating Value study to improve internal and external communications; a number of recommendations are 2007 Annual County Board Goals
