What if I can't afford to hire an attorney?
Depending on your income level and the nature of your case, you may qualify for representation through Legal Assistance of Dakota County, Ltd. You may also contact the Dakota County Attorney Referral Service. The number for both of these agencies is 952-431-3200. If you are the defendant in a criminal or child protection action and need representation, you can request that a public defender be appointed to represent you at your first appearance in court.
