Mother in South St. Paul Pleads Guilty to Intentional Murder and Attempted Murder and is Sentenced
| [January 27, 2010] Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Patricia Ann Becht, age 42 of South St. Paul, has pleaded guilty to Intentional Murder in the Second Degree and Attempted Murder in the Second Degree in connection with the death of her 10-year-old son, Michael Vonheath Becht, Jr., who died on July 6, 2009, and the injury of her 11-year-old daughter. Becht gave her children an overdose of prescription medication and she attempted to kill herself by also taking an overdose of such medication. Becht was sentenced by Judge Thomas Poch to 459 months in prison. She will be eligible for release in just over 25 years. |
