Former Mendota Heights Girl Scout Leader Pleads Guilty to Theft
[June 28, 2011]  Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Joleen Marie Hopkins, age 55 of Mendota Heights, pled guilty today to two counts of Theft By Swindle (both felonies) in connection with using her former position as a Girl Scout leader to steal approximately $8,200 from the Troops’ and Chapters’ accounts. These thefts are alleged to have occurred in 2008 and 2009. Judge Jerome Abrams set the sentencing for September 13, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. in Hastings. The four counts of Theft (all felonies) will be dismissed. Full restitution will be sought for all financial losses in the case.
