Former Bookkeeper Sentenced for Theft from West St. Paul Business
[May 12, 2010]  Dakota County Attorney James C. Backstrom announced that Cindy Lou Kutscher, now known as Cindy Lou Sears, age 52 of Afton, was sentenced today by Judge David Knutson to 45 months in prison in connection with stealing in excess of $600,000 over a four-year period from her West St. Paul employer. Kutscher/Sears pled guilty to four felony counts of Theft by Swindle on December 22, 2009. Backstrom’s office argued for a double upward departure (90 months in prison) based on the significant nature of this major economic offense. Kutscher/Sears was also ordered to pay full restitution for the money she stole.
