Man Sentenced in Attack Upon a Vulnerable Adult
| [June 15, 2009] Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that John Maxwell Maniglia, age 20 of Northfield, was sentenced today by Judge Tim Wermager to 96 months in prison in connection with a series of violent crimes committed against a 24-year old vulnerable adult in rural Dakota County last October. Maniglia pleaded guilty to one count each of Assault in the Third Degree, Theft (gross misdemeanor) and Kidnapping on April 14, 2009. The remaining charges were dismissed. This sentence is a double upward durational departure from Minnesota Sentencing Guidelines due to the cruelty associated with these acts. |
