Charges Upgraded to Murder in Hastings Veteran's Home Attack
| [September 19, 2008] Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that new charges of murder have been filed against Randall Sears, age 44, who had been residing at the Veteran’s Home in Hastings, in connection with the violent attack upon another Veteran’s Home resident. Backstrom indicated that Richard Jackson, the victim in this case, died on August 24, 2008 as a result of the injuries he sustained. Sears is now charged* with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (with intent to kill); one count of Murder in the Second Degree (while committing a felony); and one count of Assault in the First Degree. |
