Man Sentenced in Hastings Veteran's Home Murder
| [November 16, 2009] Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Randall Sears, age 45, who had been residing at the Veteran’s Home in Hastings, was sentenced today by Judge Edward Lynch to 440 months (36.6 years) in prison. Sears was convicted on September 16, 2009 by a Dakota County jury of one count each of Murder in the Second Degree (intentional); Murder in the Second Degree (unintentional); and Assault in the First Degree in connection with the brutal and fatal attack upon Richard Jackson, a 54-year-old resident at the Veteran’s Home. |
