Charges Filed in Attack of Youth Hockey Coach
Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Thomas Angelo Tonda, age 49 of St. Paul, has been charged* with one count each of Terroristic Threats (a felony) and Assault in the Fifth Degree (a misdemeanor) in connection with an attack on the assistant coach of his son’s youth hockey team on December 6th in Inver Grove Heights. According to the facts alleged in the criminal complaint: Tonda began screaming at the coach after the coach had provided instructions to Tonda’s son pertaining to an on-ice practice incident; and Tonda then placed the victim in a choke hold and verbally threatened to kill the coach as he left the area.  For more information, see the attached news release.
