Community Corrections provides structured community based supervision (also called probation) and services for juvenile and adult offenders to both promote public safety and hold offenders accountable. Corrections uses evidence based practices including assessments of offenders and targeting interventions to specific risks and needs.
Corrections works with victims to help them recover from the effects of crime. Staff helps victims determine financial losses, makes restitution recommendations to the Court, and works with offenders to pay restitution obligations. Staff works with offenders toward meeting other victim related obligations such as formal apologies. Victims are also referred to resources for help with additional financial, emotional and other concerns stemming from crime.
Corrections supports efforts to involve communities in the justice system through use of volunteers, interns, and community membership on advisory groups.
