The Enterprise Technology Committee was established in 2009 to provide for stronger countywide governance and prioritization of major technology initiatives and was incorporated into our strategic plan. The ETC was formed to facilitate and guide the organizational effectiveness of IT at Dakota County by balancing investments in people, process and technology, and helps to ensure that all IT resources are aligned and directed at fulfilling the County’s strategic goals.
The group is structured to ensure that technology initiatives represent the overall mission of the organization rather than department-specific areas or interests through executive level oversight, established standards and guidelines in decision making and project management. The committee acts as an advisory committee to the County Administrator and Senior Management Team.
ETC provides a forum of debate and planning for all Dakota County departments on issues related to information technology. ETC monitors and evaluates projects for risk/value/cost and identifies shared service opportunities across the departments. The mission of the ETC is to create an environment in which information technology is effectively applied to improve the efficiency of County operations (enterprise-wide) and to respond to the business needs of the organization.
