Captain Leko has been employed by the Dakota County Sheriff's Office since 1997.

Prior to his appointment to Captain in April, 2011, he served as Commander of the Dakota County Drug Task Force. He worked in narcotic and gang investigations for six years.

He was promoted to Sergeant in 2006.

He has held positions in Court Security; Transport; Parks, Lakes, and Trails; Patrol; and as a School Resource Officer.
- He served 11 years as a member of the SWAT Team and was a certified explosive breacher.
