Survey Services
The Surveyor's Office provides professional surveying support to the County through technical and field support services. Survey is also responsible for the enforcement of laws and ordinances governing land subdivision. Survey also provides geographically based information to citizens, other governmental units, and County staff, leading to better decision-making and facilitating land transfers in Dakota County.

The Surveyor's Office is responsible for the maintenance of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) as it applies to Dakota County. It is responsible for reviewing Subdivision Plats, Registered Land Surveys, and Common Interest Community plats for compliance with statutory requirements. The County Surveyor serves as the Secretary of the Plat Commission, which reviews all plats adjoining county roads. The Surveyor's Office also provides office and field survey support to other Dakota County departments, government agencies and creates Right of Way Maps for the Transportation Department.
