The Surveyor's Office is responsible for reviewing Subdivision Plats, Registered Land Surveys, and Common Interest Community plats for compliance with statutory requirements. The County Surveyor serves as the Secretary of the Plat Commission, which reviews all plats adjoining county roads.
The Surveyor's Office also provides office and field survey support to other Dakota County departments, government agencies and creates Right of Way Maps for the Transportation Department.
The Surveyor's Office also is responsible for the maintenance of the Public Land Survey System (PLSS) as it applies to Dakota County.
The current timeframe for plat review is two to three weeks.
