Dakota County works hard to get people where they need to go safely and on time. One way we do that is by partnering with regional transit agencies—including Metropolitan Council, Counties Transit Improvement Board, Minnesota Valley Transit Authority, MetroTransit and DARTS—to plan for the county’s growing transit needs.
Four potential transitway corridors—I-35, Cedar Avenue, Robert Street and Red Rock—run through the county. Ensuring these corridors get people where they need to go quickly and safely is essential to meeting the needs of residents, businesses and commuters.
Dakota County also participates in Midwest Regional Rail Initiative which is a cooperative, multi-agency effort to develop a nine-state, 2000-mile regional passenger rail system.
