Birth Certificates are currently available at six Dakota County locations:

How do I get a Birth Certificate?

You may purchase a birth certificate for anyone born in Minnesota, before December 31, 1934 at the Northern Service Center.  After January 1, 1935, they are available at all five Dakota County locations listed above.

In Person:

    • Show tangible interest by filling out a Birth Certificate Application
    • Bring the unsigned form and fees to one of our six locations listed above
    • Show proof of identity such as a driver's license or passport
    • A deputy registrar will witness your signature

By Mail:

Fees:

    • $16.00 First Certified Birth Record
    • $ 9.00 Each additional certified copy of the same record issued at the same time
    • We do not accept credit or debit cards
