The next auction for tax-forfeited property is estimated to take place in Fall/Winter 2009. No date has been set.
Sign up for updates To sign up for a list of properties being sold at the next auction, send your name and address to
forfeit@co.dakota.mn.us. You will be notified once details are set. A property list, prices and date and time of the sale will also be available on the Dakota County Web site once it is available.
Bidding
Tax-forfeited property auctions are conducted by the Dakota County Treasurer/Auditor or designee. Bids are conducted by hand-raising and oral bids. You must be present in order to bid. There is no pre-registration required.
No refunds
All properties are sold “as is” and all sales are final. There are additional fees for recording, state deed, state deed tax, and conservation fee. Cash, personal check or money order are accepted means of payment. Be prepared to present payment and valid ID the day of the auction. Special assessments may be reapplied by the city. The buyer is also responsible for clearing the title.
Properties not sold Any property that is not sold at the auction are offered for sale “over the counter” at the base price at the Taxpayer Services counter, main floor of the
Administration Center. Prices cannot be adjusted unless they are approved by the Board of Commissioners and offered at auction again.
