Recycling is easy to do at home, but taking it on the road can prove to be a challenge. Whether the celebrations, vacations and road trips keep you close to home or take you miles away, have the environment in mind during your travels.
Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, you can do a few simple things that will reduce waste and conserve resources.
- Before booking your stay at a hotel or resort, ask whether or not the facility offers recycling. If they don’t, your question could prompt them to start.
- More and more places are recycling, but you can’t always count on your favorite destinations to do so. Bring a bag when traveling to collect plastic bottles, aluminum cans and paper that you can recycle when available.
- Use recycling bins at rest areas, parks and visitor centers to show your support for each location’s recycling efforts.
- The Recycling Association of Minnesota has teamed up with select area gas stations and car washes to add recycling bins near service areas. Check your favorite gas station for a bottle-shaped recycling bin and start using it each time you stop to fill up.
