Water Quality

Swimming Pools & Recreational Beaches

The use of modern disinfection systems in pools and environmental improvements in our lakes and rivers has improved the quality of water in swimming pools and beaches, but there is still need to regulate public pools and beaches.

Dakota County inspects some pools
Dakota County Public Health randomly inspects apartment and health club pools. Public Health also works to educate pool operators to make for a safe, enjoyable swimming pool experience for everyone.

Minnesota Department of Health also inspects pools
The Minnesota Department of Health reviews and approves new pool construction plans and inspects pools in hotels, motels, schools, and manufactured home parks.

Send pool complaints to Public Health
If you have a pool complaint, contact the Dakota County Public Health Department by email at public.health@co.dakota.mn.us or phone 952-891-7500.
