Burning and burying of garbage causes environmental pollution and poses health threats. This is why it is illegal for Dakota County residents, including farmers, to burn or bury solid wastes – such as paper, plastic, cardboard, aerosols and other garbage. For proper management, residents should contract with a waste hauler or take their garbage to a local disposal facility.
Licensed Waste HaulersFor a list of licensed waste haulers or if you have questions regarding proper solid waste disposal,
contact your city. If you live in rural Dakota County, contact Dakota County Environmental Management at 952-891-7557 for a list of licensed haulers that service your area.
Residents may also take garbage to a
local disposal facility. Call the facility first for a list of items accepted, preparation requirements and fee information.
Waste haulers also collect recyclables, or residents can bring household recyclables to
The Recycling Zone.
