Septic Systems
Individual Sewage Treatment Systems (ISTS) are commonly called septic systems. Septic systems are regulated by city and township ordinances, which have adopted Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Chapter 7080 and the applicable Dakota County ordinance as their individual ordinance.

Whether your existing septic system needs to be repaired or pumped, or you need a new system designed and installed, the work must be done by a licensed septic professional. The MPCA maintains a list of professionals that are licensed to install, inspect, design, and pump/maintain septic systems.

Dakota County is not involved in the creation and upkeep of the list of septic professionals. This list does not represent endorsement by the County or the MPCA. All users of the list are responsible for ensuring that any company with whom they contract for products and/or services comply with the requirements of local, state, and federal laws.

The list is based on the physical address of the licensed business, not the county in which the company performs most of their work. Septic professionals may work anywhere in Minnesota and are not restricted to the city or county in which their company is located.
