Northfield Roadway Study
Northfield’s combined population is expected to increase from 21,500 in 2000 to 32,000 in 2030. Staff from Dakota and Rice Counties and the city of Northfield is studying the roads north and west of the city of Northfield to plan for future development and accommodate growth. Planning roads before widespread development reduces costs. It also gives planners more choices for where to put the road than they would have after development. Staff will study existing and future highway needs based on expected population growth in these areas.
