2010 Overlays

Work on this project is substantially complete. Thank you for your patience and cooperation throughout this project.

Paving
Each year Dakota County rehabilitates approximately 25 miles of pavement. The 2010 overlays include work on the following roads:
  • County Road 30 from County Road 43 to TH 3 in Eagan
  • County Road 32 from Slater Road to I-35E in Eagan
  • County Road 46 from Vermillion River Bridge to TH 61 in Hastings
  • County Road 80 from East of County Road 79 to West of TH 50 in Hampton and Castle Rock Townships
  • County Road 83 from County Road 88 to County Road 86 in Randolph and Randolph Township
  • County Road 86 from County Road 47 to TH 52 in Castle Rock, Sciota, Hampton, and Randolph Townships
  • County Road 88 from TH 56 to East County Line in Randolph Township
  • County Road 91 from 210th Street to TH 316 in Marshan Township
  • Keokuk Avenue from County Road 70 to 205th Street in Lakeville
Most of the time, pavement rehab is accomplished by overlaying the existing roadway with a new layer of asphalt. Occasionally, it is necessary to grind away an inch or two of existing pavement before placing the top layer of asphalt. This process is called a “mill and overlay.” Both the overlay and mill and overlay are cost-effective solutions for extending the life of the pavement.
