Schedule for September 3 - September 11
County Road 56 from Poplar Street to Chestnut Street is tentatively scheduled to close on September 9. A new detour route will be set up from Dawn Way on the south end to Dale Place on the north end at the time of the closure. Work between Linden Street and Poplar Street continues and this stretch will remain closed to thru traffic.
County Road 56 will be closed from Dawn Way to Poplar Street from 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, to install underground utilities (sanitary sewer, water main and storm sewer).
60th Street – Linden Street (including Linden Street)
- Paving is scheduled for Wednesday, September 8, weather permitting.
Linden Street – Poplar Street
- Work on storm sewer installation.
- Hook up water services. This area will be closed during the day while the contractor is working, and driveway access will be temporarily impacted during pipe installation.
- Unanticipated rock excavation is slowing all pipe installation along this stretch.
Poplar Street – Chestnut Street
- Road will be closed the day following paving of 60th Street to Linden Street; tentative date of closure is September 9.
- Remove existing pavement.
Entire Project
- Private utility work continues.
County Road 56 between 65th Street and Poplar Street is open to local traffic only. Thru traffic should use the existing detour route. This detour route will change with the closure between Poplar Street and Chestnut Street. Access to residences and businesses will remain open, but may be limited to access from one direction only (only from the south or only from the north).
This project is a reconstruction of County Road 56 (Concord Blvd/Concord St) from south of 65th St E in Inver Grove Heights to south of Dale Place in South St Paul. Construction of this section of County Road 56 began on April 12, 2010.
