EMS Advisory Council

The Dakota County EMS Advisory Council was established by the Dakota County Board of Commissioners in 2003 to ensure effective, efficient emergency medical service coordination to the citizens of Dakota County. The EMS Council operates under updated bylaws approved June 3, 2010.

The EMS Advisory Council’s mission is to assure prompt, quality, skillful and coordinated emergency medical services to the citizens of Dakota County. The Council systematically reviews procedures and equipment in order to assure quality. The Council also sponsors education and training for emergency services personnel, and develops other resources to support the delivery of quality patient care services. There are five standing committees supporting the work of the EMS Advisory Council: the Executive Committee, the Ambulance Provider Committee, Medical Standards Committee, Emergency Preparedness Subcommittee, Training Subcommittee, and Community Awareness Subcommittee. 

The following agencies are members of the EMS Advisory Council:

The Ambulance Provider Committee develops an annual calendar for education and training, and reviews EMS medical guidelines. The Provider Committee consists of the members of the EMS Council plus Red Wing Fire Department and Zumbrota Area Ambulance.
