Pandemic influenza planning
What is "pandemic flu?"
Pandemic influenza is a global disease outbreak. An influenza pandemic occurs when a new influenza virus appears for which there is little or no immunity in the human population, begins to cause serious illness and then spreads easily person-to-person worldwide.

How is Dakota County preparing for an influenza pandemic?
  • Dakota County Public Health Department is writing and testing pandemic flu plans and providing information and technical assistance to many groups throughout the County.
  • Dakota County Community Services is planning to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people in the County and to assure care for those who are ill in the community.
  • Dakota County is prioritizing its services, determining how to protect staff to be able to continue essential services, and working with cities and townships to do the same.
