  • Every thirty-one minutes someone in the U.S. is killed due to an alcohol-related motor vehicle crash. 
  • In Minnesota in 2005, there were 5,055 crashes that involved alcohol, resulting in 197 deaths and 3,571 people injured, at an estimated economic cost of more than $300 million.
  • Dakota County statistics:
    • Crashes involving alcohol killed 8 people and injured 175 others in 2004.
    • In 2005, 2,650 motorists were arrested for DWI.
    • The cost of alcohol-related traffic crashes, fatalities and injuries is estimated to be more than $13 million.
