To graduate from the program, providers will complete three core courses and three elective courses.
The core classes that must be taken are Supervision Through the Stages, Super Care Starts with Supervision, and Managing the Child Care Environment. At this time, these classes are not being offered by Dakota County Child Care Licensing, but alternative classes have been designed to meet these requirements and they are as follows:
Super Care Starts with Supervision (Provided by Dakota County or a designee of Dakota County)
Complete all three correspondence booklets and newsletters with tests being submitted to licensing worker:
Supervision Through the Stages (Provided by Dakota County or a designee)
Any Child Development class that covers infant through school age given by an educational institution such as Resources for Child Caring, Care Courses or Childcare Lounge. After completing the course, ask your license work for a supplement. Complete the supplement and submit it to your licensing worker.
Managing the Child Care Environment (class presented by Cory Woolsley)
This class is offered by Dakota County Family Child Care Association on an occasional basis.
Or one of the following two correspondence courses:
Elective classes can be obtained from Resources for Child Caring, Dakota County Family Child Care Association, Dakota County Social Services or local colleges.
These classes include:
- Rule Review/Provider Handbook (Provided by Dakota Co.)
- Group Dynamics
- Stress, Burnout, or Adult Self-esteem
- Behavior Guidance
Upon completion of requirements for Supervision U, submit copies of all training certificates to your licensing worker. You will receive a graduation from Supervision U diploma and gift as well as your completion of this program will be told to anyone completing a file check on you.
