The child care provider must complete provider registration before we are able to issue payments for care provided.

Do I get Paid Before or After I Provide Service?

Complete the billing form after services are provided.

Is there a Deadline for Submitting Billing Forms?

  • You must submit bills within 60 days of service or payment will be denied.

How Much Does the County Pay?

  • We pay up to what was authorized by the financial worker.
  • We pay up to the county’s maximum rates.
  • The parent must pay the provider for costs that exceed the maximums.
  • The parent may also be responsible for some registration fees, special program fees and for the co-payment amount listed on the "Service Authorization."

When Will I Get Paid?

You will receive payment within one month after submitting a billing form to Dakota County.

What if the Billing Form is Incomplete?

If we cannot approve the entire billing, we may need to return the invoice to you for more information or corrections. Whenever possible, we will try to call and verify information to expedite the process.

In some cases, the financial worker may be contacted before we can approve payment. If we do not approve the amount billed or your billing form does not meet payment policies, we will send you a notice or you will see a comment on your remittance.
