Child Health Clinic provides regular health exams (screenings) and immunizations to well infants, children and teens ages 2 months to 19 years old for residents in Dakota County. A specially trained Nurse will check your child's growth and development and answer your questions about health concerns. If your child needs additional treatment, the nurse will help you find medical or other resources.

What are the benefits of well child screening? A screening can often detect health or developmental problems in your child. The earlier health problems are found, the more easily they can be treated and corrected. The nurse will check to see if your child needs any shots to meet the
state immunization requirements. The well child screening meets the physical requirements for school, daycare, pre-school,
Head Start and camp.
What does a screening include?
- Height and weight measurements
- Vision and hearing test (children over age 3)
- Developmental testing (children under age 6)
- Fluoride dental varnish
- Immunizations (shots)
- Nutrition evaluation
- Physical exam
- Laboratory tests - Urine (if toilet trained), Lead Screening, Hemoglobin (iron)

When should my child receive regular health exams?
- At 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15 and 18 months
- At 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 years
- Every two years after age 6
This is a recommended schedule based on State and Federal guidelines.
Is there a charge for a well child screening?
The cost is based on your income, assets and the number of people in your household. There is no fee if your child has been accepted into a Minnesota Health Care Program such as Medical Assistance (MA) or MinnesotaCare. If your child is enrolled in a MA Health Plan, we will bill your Health Plan. We provide interpreters for our services. The Privacy Rights and HIPAA laws protect all client information.
Health Screenings are available by appointment Tuesday through Friday. Location, times and days vary monthly. Evening appointments are also available. Call 952-891-7526 to set up an appointment.
