Timeline: Assessed Value to Property Taxes
The 2012 Tax Statement is Based on:

  • The values for January 2, 2011 (taxes payable in 2012) that were finalized on July 1, 2011 (M.S. 274.175).

The 2012 Value Notice for Payable 2013 Tax is based on:

  • The market value of each property on Jan. 2, 2012.
  • The Jan. 2, 2012, market value was based on 'open-market-sales' that happened between Oct. 1, 2010 and Sept. 30, 2011. ("Open-market-sales" are sales that were on the market, and were between willing buyers and willing sellers, neither under any undue pressure to buy or sell.)
  • The appeal process for the 2012 value (taxes payable in 2013) and the appeal timeline was shown on the Notice of Value that was mailed to all property owners in March 2012.
  • The 2012 Notice of Value will be mailed in March 2012, and will provide value information for taxes payable in 2013.
  • Appeal information of the 2012 Value (for payable 2013) will be included on the 2012 Notice of Value.
