Adopt-A-Highway Program
The Adopt-a-Highway program helps keep roadsides clean. Volunteer groups clean a designated segment of approximately two miles. This program is coordinated by the Dakota County Transportation Department.
Requirements The group agrees to clean up its road segment at least twice a year for a minimum of two years. The Transportation Department provides safety vests and trash bags. The maintenance crew will pick up and dispose of filled bags and other items. For more information, see the brochure and safety tips.
Get involved You can check Adopt-a-Highway sections for a sampling of available sections. Contact the coordinator for more information.
One-Time Commitment Not ready for a two-year commitment? How about a one-time clean up on an assigned segment of county highway? We supply the bags, vests, training, and bag retrieval. You contribute a few hours of labor.
Free recognition signs All new Adopt-a-Highway groups receive free 30” by 24” recognition signs. Current groups will have this new sign configuration phased in over a 10-year period.
