  • NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY, September 25, 2010, morning (time TBD). In recognition of National Public Lands Day and in conjunction with the Mississippi Makeover Project, a cleanup will take place on the shoreline and the island areas of Spring Lake on the Dakota County side of the Mississippi River channel between the dam and the CF Industries grain dock. We need people who can help with the cleanup on the shoreline, as well as shallow bottom boats for the island cleanup. This event is being coordinated by the Hastings Environmental Protectors with assistance from Flint Hills Resources, CF Industries, Dakota County Parks, Dakota County Sheriff's Office, Dakota County SWCD, MN DNR, National Park Service, Friends of the Mississippi River, Ducks Unlimited and others.
