Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Leah Marie Bremner, age 31 of Farmington, has been charged* today with Felony Theft by Swindle in connection with the loss of $95,000 from a bank in Lakeville where she worked. These thefts are alleged to have occurred between May and October of 2010. At the time of these thefts, Ms. Bremner was employed by the bank as a senior teller.

Backstrom commented: “This is a significant economic crime and is the 19th theft over $50,000 during the last five years in Dakota County.”
Backstrom thanked the Lakeville Police Department who assisted in the investigation of this case, which also involved the completion of an internal audit at the victimized bank.
Bremner made her first appearance in court today and bail in the amount of $10,000 without conditions ($5,000 with conditions) was set by Dakota County District Court Judge Timothy McManus. Bremner’s next court appearance is set for July 22, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. in Hastings.
