Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Dawn Westphal, age 43 formerly of Rosemount (now residing in Minot, North Dakota), was sentenced today to 180 days in jail and probation for ten years by Judge Jerome Abrams in connection with a theft scheme involving the theft of over $80,000 from February 2006 to January 2011 from the Eagan telecommunications company where she was then working as the Office Manager. Westphal pled guilty on May 28, 2013 to five counts of Theft by Swindle. While the additional counts were dismissed today, Westphal will have to make full restitution in the amount of $88,391.75 as a result of these thefts.

Backstrom commented: “We are pleased to have brought this defendant to justice for these financial crimes. The defendant faces a 19 month prison sentence if she violates the conditions of her probation.”
