Man is Sentenced for Sexually Abusing Child Under His Custody
| Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Justin Paul Farnsworth, age 34 of Hastings, was sentenced today by Judge Robert King to 27 years in prison in connection with sexually abusing the daughter of his former girlfriend. Farnsworth pleaded guilty to Criminal Sexual Conduct in the First Degree in April of 2005. The court sentenced Farnsworth as a patterned or predatory sex offender under Minnesota law at Backstrom's request, which requires the court to sentence this type of offender to at least double the presumptive sentence (288 months or 24 years) up to the statutory maximum (360 months or 30 years) in prison.
