Hastings Youth Charged in School Lockdown Incident
[April 7, 2010]  Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced today that a 14-year-old boy from Hastings has been petitioned* in juvenile court in connection with a Hastings Middle School lockdown on Monday, April 5, 2010. The boy has been charged** with three counts of Assault in the Second Degree, one count of Terroristic Threats and one count of Criminal Damage to Property (all felonies). Backstrom stated that his Office has filed a motion to certify this youth to stand trial as an adult or in the alternative to have him prosecuted under the extended juvenile jurisdiction (EJJ) statute.
