Hastings Man is Sentenced for Crash after Huffing
| {September 14, 2010] Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom announced that Daniil Mikaylovich Usachev, age 19 of Hastings, was sentenced today to 90 days in jail, probation for five years and a fine of $500 by Judge David Knutson. Usachev pled guilty May 24, 2010, to two felony counts of Criminal Vehicular Operation (causing great bodily harm while under the influence of a hazardous substance) in connection with a single vehicle crash that occurred on August 4, 2009 in Hastings. The defendant, who was 18 years-old at the time of this incident, was under the influence due to “huffing”, a dangerous practice of sniffing chemicals to get high. The two teen passengers suffered serious injuries including broken bones and lacerations. The judge also ordered restitution in an amount to be determined. See official news release below. |
