Testifying in Court

In most cases, defendants enter a plea of guilty, which means a trial is not necessary and witnesses do not need to testify.

If your testimony is needed, you will receive a subpoena or notice to appear, telling you where and when to appear.

To find out more about the courts process for a criminal case, see the Dakota County Attorney’s WhatHappensNext.pdfA Criminal Case What Happens Next brochure.
