What is a BiFolkal Kit? A BiFolkal kit is a packaged program designed to bring back memories on a particular time or topic. Each kit is designed to unlock remarkable stories, humorous anecdotes, and first-person
accounts of history, experience and life.
BiFolkal kits provide captivating, informing and stimulating activities for older adults. Focusing on reminiscence, remembering and reflecting, the kits can be used with any group of older adults or with mixed age groups.
- Kits may be checked out for three weeks, with one renewal (if not on a waiting list).
- Kits may be requested and transferred between Dakota County libraries at your convenience.
- Kits may be returned to the circulation desk at any Dakota County library (no book drop returns, please).
- Kits are listed in the Dakota County Library catalog by kit title or subject “BiFolkal Kits"
BiFolkal Kit contents Each of the 20 kits includes the same types of materials, designed to include as many sensory memory triggers as possible. Inside each kit you’ll find:
- program manual
- slide cassette or videocassette
- 25 large print booklets with songs, poems and other conversation-starters
- sing-along tapes with songs, stories, radio programs
- things to touch, objects, textures scented items and more!
