Volunteers are appreciated at all the Dakota County Library branches and enhance the quality of services. Here are some ways to get involved at the library.
Adopt-a-Shelf Program One volunteer activity is the Adopt-a-Shelf program. Volunteer an hour a week and adopt your own shelf of adult or children's fiction or nonfiction books to keep in order.

Volunteens
The Volunteen program is an opportunity for youth, ages 12–18, to participate in a community service activity during the summer months. Volunteens assist youth librarians in registering children and teens for the Summer Reading Program and help with library events from June to August.
To get the most out of this volunteer experience, it is important that you be an enthusiastic supporter of children and reading. Volunteens may also assist with other library and community service projects. Volunteen slots are limited. For more details on how the program works and specific dates, please call the individual libraries. Beginning May 1, you can
download an application to participate in our Volunteen program. Completed applications are due May 25, 2012.
