Construction Update
The North Picnic Shelter in Thompson County Park is getting an upgrade. A new picnic shelter will be constructed, replacing the existing shelter.  Construction timeframe is still to be determined; however, it will likely occur either fall 2011 or spring 2012.  During the construction, the North Shelter and surrounding picnic areas will be CLOSED.  All parking lots, the playground, other existing picnic areas and trails will remain open for public use.

Highlights of the new North Picnic Shelter include:

  • A new picnic shelter design to accommodate 100 people under roof.
  • Rustic building materials that match the feel of the existing Thompson Park Center.
  • All-season restroom facilities to serve both picnic shelter and general park users.
