The Dakota County Public Health Department is seeking volunteers to participate in an emergency exercise on July 26 at Henry Sibley High School, 1897 Delaware Ave., Mendota Heights.
“Operation Big Box” will test plans for setting up a medication center, or Point of Dispensing (POD) site, where Dakota County residents would pick up medicine during a disease outbreak. The Public Health Department is looking to recruit 200–300 volunteers to help test plans for managing the large volume of people who would come to the POD in a real emergency.
Volunteers will check in at the school from 11–11:30 a.m. July 26 to receive a briefing about their role. The exercise ends at 2:30 p.m. and lunch will be provided. To participate, volunteers must be at least 14 years old and accompanied by an adult or have a signed permission form if younger than 18 years old.
To register as a volunteer before the July 16 deadline, go to the Operation Big Box web page
