A comprehensive master plan is formed for each Dakota County park. The master plan guides and prioritizes the planning, development, operation, use and management of the park. Each plan is updated every 10–15 years.
Mississippi River Regional Trail Open House
Dakota County is welcoming community members to weigh in on the alignment of a four-mile section of the Mississippi River Regional Trail that is being planned through Spring Lake Park Reserve.
The public is invited to an open house from 4–7 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, at Schaar’s Bluff Gathering Center, 8395 127th St. E., Hastings, to provide input on how the route options have been evaluated and how concerns were addressed from the previous open house, as well as offer opinions on the pros and cons of each alignment option. This is the final open house before a preferred alignment is adopted in May.
When completed in 2015, the Mississippi River Regional Trail will stretch 27 miles from St. Paul to Hastings. It will be part of a 3,000-mile trail that will connect the Mississippi River’s headwaters at Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico.
