Sending & Receiving Payments

Sending support payments

If child support enforcement services are being provided, support payments must be sent to the Minnesota Child Support Payment Center to be credited to the case. Do not send payments to the other party.  Most court orders require income withholding.  If income withholding is not available, payments can be made several ways.

Online payments

Minnesota Child Support Online is an interactive website provided by the state to make payments by means other than credit card.

Automatic recurring withdrawal

Automatic-recurring withdrawal allows you to pay child support through your checking or savings account.  Instructions on how to establish automatic recurring withdrawal payments are detailed on the Minnesota Department of Human Services website.  Complete an Automatic Withdrawal Form.

Mail in payment

MN Child Support Payment Center
P.O. Box 64326
St. Paul, MN 55164-0326

Send payments by check, cashier's check or money order.  Make checks payable to MN Child Support Payment Center (or MN CSPC).  Do not send cash.

Be sure to include your name on your payment and at least one number, such as:

  • Child Support Case Number
  • Participant Number (MCI Number)
  • Social Security Number

To get your case number or participant number, contact your assigned case worker or call 651-554-5611.

Pay in person

Public Assistance lobby - Northern Service Center
Cash, check or money order payments can be made Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at:

Northern Service Center
1 Mendota Road W., Ste. 100
West St. Paul, MN  55118

PayNearMe
PayNearMe allows you to make cash payments at participating locations.

Participating locations:

  • Casey's General Store
  • Family Dollar
  • 7-Eleven
  • CVS Pharmacy (stand-alone locations only, cannot be used at CVSs located inside Target)
  • Walmart (at the service counter, not the check-out lanes)

Before making a payment, you will need a barcode.  Barcodes can be generated three different ways:

  • Using the PayNearMe app
  • Going to the PayNearMe website
  • Contact your worker to request a barcode

PayNearMe charges a $1.99 service fee.  The maximum payment that can be made using PayNearMe is $1,000 per transaction and $2,999 per rolling 24-hour period.

MoneyGram
MoneyGram allows you to make cash payments at participating locations.

Participating locations

  • Walmart (at the service counter, not the check-out lanes)
  • CVS Pharmacy (stand-alone locations only, cannot be used at CVSs located inside Target)
  • Cub Foods

Before making a payment, you will need your child support participant number (MCI Number) and the receiving code of 14665.

MoneyGram charges a $3.99 service fee.

Income withholding

Income withholding is a deduction from your paycheck and is required by most court orders.  Child support is deducted on the same schedule as you are paid (weekly, biweekly, etc.).  Your employer has seven business days to send it in after taking the money from your check.  We will work with your employer to set this up.  Please contact us to report new employer information.

Payment processing times

  • Payments received at the Payment Center on Friday, Saturday or Sunday are issued the following Monday.
  • Payments received the day before state holidays are issued the next business day.
  • Payments made via PayNearMe, MoneyGram or in person may take 3-4 business days to post to your case.
  • Payments made via MoneyGram are issued the next business day.

Receiving support payments

Custodial parents have two options for receiving child support payments:

  • Direct deposit:  This is available for checking and savings accounts.  Sign up for direct deposit.
  • Stored value card:  This is a debit card administered by US Bank. Sign up for stored value card.

You may be charged a 2-percent fee if money is collected.  If you have an open child support case, you should not accept child support payments directly from the other party.
