Tre Manuel Iglesias, 24, was sentenced today in Dakota County District Court for his role in the death of Avontae Troy King, 26 of South St. Paul, announced Dakota County Attorney Kathy Keena.
Judge Stacey Sorensen Green sentenced Iglesias to a 150-month prison term. Iglesias entered a guilty plea in July 2025 to one count of aiding and abetting unintentional murder in the second degree. He will receive credit for 665 days already served in custody.
According to court documents, at approximately 4:50 p.m. on Nov. 24, 2023, officers from the South St. Paul Police Department were called to a residential neighborhood on a weapons call. When officers arrived, they found King lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest. King was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Earlier that evening, Iglesias and co-defendant Andrew Michael Fisher entered the home of King. Fisher grabbed a bag of marijuana that was sitting on a table and ran out of the house. Both Iglesias and the victim followed him. Fisher, while standing on the sidewalk, turned and shot King who fell to the ground. The two men then left the scene in Iglesias' vehicle.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office determined the cause of death was a single gunshot wound to the chest.
The co-defendant Fisher was sentenced in August 2024.
Iglesias remains in custody at the Dakota County Jail awaiting transfer to the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
