Dakota County is constructing and reconstructing portions of the 5.2 segment of the Vermillion Greenway between General Sieben Drive and the Mississippi River in Hastings. Dakota County will construct about 1 mile of new trail and reconstruct about 3 miles of existing trail.
The finished greenway segment will consist of a 10-foot-wide paved trail. Other amenities will include:
- Safety and accessibility improvements of the trail crossings at Pleasant Drive, Ravenna Trail and other trail crossings through downtown streets
- Connections to local trails and sidewalks
- Seating
- Wayfinding and interpretive signage
- Landscaping
- Other features consistent with Dakota County Greenway Standards
Project timeline
October 2023–November 2023: Vermillion Falls Park
April–August 2024: C.P. Adams Park, Vermillion Linear Park, SMEAD property, Tyler Street Crossing and 10th Street Crossing

C.P. Adams Park: Removals and grading are expected to begin. CP Adams Trail Detour
SMEAD Property: Grading and paving has been completed at the SMEAD Property. Placement of topsoil and restoration will begin. Smead Trail Detour
