Dakota County is constructing a 2-mile segment of the Veterans Memorial Greenway between Alameda Path and Rich Valley Park in Inver Grove Heights.
The finished greenway segment will consist of a 10-foot-wide paved trail. Other amenities will include:
- Safety and accessibility improvements of the trail crossings at Alameda Path, Alameda Avenue, Akron Avenue and 105th Street
- Grade-separated crossing of Rich Valley Boulevard
- Connections to local trails in Rich Valley Park
- Memorial nodes and seating elements
- Wayfinding and interpretive signage
- Landscaping
- Other features consistent with Dakota County Greenway Standards

Construction
Temporary closure
The Veterans Memorial Greenway will have temporary construction closures between Akron Avenue and 105th Street during working hours, 7 a.m.–5 p.m. and reopened after hours. The construction areas will be closed to the public. The temporary closures will continue through Oct. 31.
September–November 2025
- Memorial Plaza construction at MIA Prairie and Places We Served
- Tree plantings along Cliff Road
- Tree plantings at MIA Prairie and Places We Served
Additional Memorial Plaza construction and landscaping will resume spring 2026.
