The METRO Orange Line is a 17-mile bus rapid transit (BRT) line operating on Interstate 35W. It serves Burnsville, Bloomington, Richfield and Minneapolis. This service began in December 2021 and provides high-frequency service to 12 stations, operating in dedicated transit facilities and E-Z Pass lanes.

Extending service through Burnsville and Lakeville was considered through a county-led study in 2019. It recommended an additional future station near the Burnsville Center Mall. When the line is extended will depend on transit demand and changes in land use, employment and activity in the area.
